Step Into My Sessions: Not all goals cover an entire school year…

Sometimes, a goal can be met in a week.

During Office Hours this month (📅 Oct 17th @2:00 PST ⏰, you’re coming, right? 😉) the topic will be helping our students collaborate with us writing goals that support them in being their true selves 🌟. Let’s take a quick peek 👀 at what that might look like.

Sometimes goals cover long periods of time ⏳ (like IEP or insurance goals, more on this coming up soon 📰), and sometimes they cover a short time period, like a week 📅. A high school senior 🎓, for whom conversation can be challenging, wanted to get better at “knowing what to say to people 💬.” We had worked with the Remembering Practice Activity from CPPEV, (Did you know you can buy CPPEV as an entire program OR à la carte? 💡) and they were ready to try it out in real life 🌍! We filled out the template 📝 with a friend in mind:

The goal we set: review this info (I texted her a screenshot) over the next week, and see how it goes! When we checked in on this goal the following week, it had been ACCOMPLISHED – a success! Short and sweet, a great step forward.

A few weeks ago, this student left for college. They sent me an email 💌 a few days ago…here’s an excerpt:

It has been somewhat hard talking to people, but I made a list about my roommate to help me think of things to ask her, and I have been making a point to remember things about people that I can ask them about later which has helped!

🍂 Happy Fall everyone! 🍂
