Step Into My Sessions: Resilience with Gravitrax

Keeping supplies organized some days tests my resilience!

Last time we talked Legos – a material pretty much everyone knows. But….do you know Gravitrax?

Two years ago at a school observation on a Friday, I saw Gravitrax on display in the science lab. I ordered it on Saturday…it arrived on Sunday…introduced it to groups on Monday…started ordering expansion pieces Monday night. That’s how great it is!

Working with gravity and momentum, think of it as a marble run on creative steroids. Kids LOVE it. Even though it can be tricky – testing courses invariably results in mis-firings, things falling, not hitting right, lacking the needed speed (or having too much speed) – you name it, it can/will go wrong. BUT, it is such an engaging system, students will persevere. They will grow their resilience! All while having fun.

I often video completed projects, often in slo-mo. But here is a video in real time – don’t blink!

Does it look easy to you? Then, consider this frustrating footage:

I am sure that right now, your fingers are itching to do some shopping! When I presented at CSHA last month, I included some info on Gravitrax that I am passing on to YOU – hopefully it will be helpful – let me know!

Here’s to hours of happy shopping and building!
