Webinar with Story Grammar Marker & Animated Videos
In the past months, I've talked to lots of therapists, parents and students about how teletherapy has been working for them. And I hear mixed results. Some love it. Some have grown to put up with it or even enjoy it, and some absolutely despise it. Honestly, I have had days/hours/sessions when I have felt all those feelings!
During these challenging times, I have also found myself blessed with new relationships, exciting novel activities to integrate into my sessions, and long-planned-but-never-actually-executed collaborations.
I met Maryellen Rooney Moreau many years ago at one of Michelle Garcia Winner's early Social Thinking Providers Conferences. I loved her immediately (who doesn't?) An amazing thinker, a prolific producer of wonderful materials, an engaging presenter, and, overall, a very special person. Over the years we would meet at conferences and chat about possible ways of putting some of ideas together. But time has a way of passing quickly, and busy lives easily get in the way of executing plans.
That's why I am SO excited that Wednesday June 3rd- yes - this coming Wednesday, Maryellen and I will be hosting a free webinar discussing how animated videos can be used to build narrative, discourse, and social understanding. We will feature a terrific video,Soar, by Alyce Tzue to frame our conversation. Here's the link - please join us - I am sure our discussion will be lively!
In My News:
To complement Wednesday's webinar with Maryellen Rooney Moreau, I will be putting the finishing touches on my next product - Conversation in Real Time: A Therapist Manual. I don't have a link today, but check my website, and fingers crossed, it will land in my store soon!
Thanks to all of you who have emailed me about how useful you've found my Conversation Paths Pack. Since I have been working alone in my office, it's been really gratifying to get your emails, so please know how much I appreciate you reaching out.
Conversation Paths present a semi-structured way for students to practice 8 building blocks of conversation: questions, 4 starters, answers, comments, interjections, bridges, greetings, and departures, all in a fast-paced format aimed at keeping students engaged. While allowing for spontaneity, Conversation Paths gives students the chance to practice conversational components they may not typically use via 33 unique Paths. The Pack can be used in individual or in group work and is particularly geared toward students with social cognitive or overall conversation challenges in grades 3-12 (also great with young adults.) Of course, there are also activities with great YouTube videos! Purchase automatically registers you for FREE updates. The first update has already gone out, so if, for some reason, you purchased but have not received the update - send me a quick email and I will send it out to you!
